JAHSENA Library
The mission of the JAHSENA Library is to complement the JAHSENA Archives by supporting the informational needs of researchers, scholars, the Jewish community and interested Albertans with regard to the history of Jewish life in Edmonton, Alberta, and more broadly, Western Canada, as well as select topics within the field of Jewish Studies. Majority of the books are available to be lent out to members, aside from specifically labelled books that are part of the reference collection and for on site use only. If you are not a member and would like to access the library you are welcome to for on site use.
Materials include; books and periodicals about local and Alberta Jewish history, cookbooks or publications by Edmonton and Western Canadian Jewish organizations; relevant yearbooks and materials that include information pertinent to the Northern Alberta Jewish community; biographies, memoirs and other non-fiction materials published by or about community members and local Jewish organizations
Subjects include; Holocaust primary sources, secondary scholarly materials and memoirs; Jewish genealogy resources, materials concerning antisemitism, art, music, literature, culture, humor. Jewish or Israeli literature collections, short stories and anthologies. Encyclopedias, dictionaries and works to promote the understanding of Judaism and the Jewish people.
